Duratec Alternators & Mounting Kits
 
Alternator Mounting Kits
Due to the wide range of installations that the Duratec is being used in, we have produced a range of alternator kits to cover engines which use either mechanical water pumps or electric water pumps. We recommend the use of an electric water pump on the Duratec, we use this on all our engines. For more advice concerning which kit is most suitable for your application, please contact us. Crank pulleys/trigger wheels & water pump pulleys are NOT included in the kits.
Crank pulley/trigger wheel

Kits are available for both standard crank pulleys & SBD crank pulleys although they are not included in the kits. More information on crank pulley/trigger wheel. Shown left is the PLY-MV5TW-36-1

NOTE: Using our smaller trigger wheel/pulley PLY-MV5TW-36-1 has the advantage of slowing down the water pump & the alternator at the same time to prevent damage.

Alternator kits for ALT-SM2-B
ALT-DURA-01K on SBD display engine ALT-DURA-01K
Alternator bracket kit to fit our ultra small alternator ALT-SM2-B to the 2.0L Duratec for use with our small lightweight crank pulley PLY-MV5TW-36-1 and electric water pump. The smaller pulley/trigger wheel reduces the speed of alternator to prevent damage in motorsport applications, particularly when high revving. Designed to by mounted on the exhaust side.

ALT-DURA-02K on SBD display engine ALT-DURA-02K
This kit is designed for use with our ultra small alternator ALT-SM2-B our small lightweight crank pulley PLY-MV5TW-36-1. This has several advantages particularly on higher revving installations. The smaller pulley reduces the speed of alternator to prevent damage & also slows the water pump to help prevent cavitation. Designed to be mounted on the exhaust side.

ALT-DURA-03K on SBD display engine ALT-DURA-03K
This kit is designed for use with as many of the standard components fitted to Duratec engine as possible, it consists of our ultra small alternator ALT-SM2-B weighing 2.5kg & bracketry to suit including our own design of simple tensioner. Designed to be mounted on the exhaust side. Recommended for road use.

NOTE: Due to the diameter of the standard crank pulley/trigger wheel, if the engine is to be revved over 7250rpm, this will overspeed the water pump & alternator so we recommend that you use ALT-DURA-02K.

ALT-DURA-03K Kit parts

ALT-DURA-06K
This kit is designed to mount the ultra small alternator on the intake side of the engine & is designed for use on our Formula 3 type installations where the dry sump pump is mounted on the exhaust side of the engine. It incorporates the small crank pulley & for use with electric water pump.

If using a mechanical water pump your engine would need to be equipped with this standard Ford water pump pulley WT-PM-DURA-PLY01. It is not normally supplied on new tuner engines. There is no need for a larger water pump pulley if your engine is purely for road use or if for track & motorsprt when using our smaller pulley/trigger wheel PLY-MV5TW-36-1 WT-PM-DURA-PLY01 Water pump pulley

The kits include everything you need and vary according to whether you want to mount the alternator on the exhaust or intake side are running an electric water or are using the standard or toothed bottom pulley.'

Ultra small Denso 2-wire alternator 2.5kg 40amp, can be used for the 2.0L, 1.6L & 1.4L Vauxhall engines. Electrical connector included. Pulley is available separately, see below.

ALT-SM3 60amp alternator ALT-SM3-B

Because many of our customers run rally cars with lights & heated front and rear screens, we've introduced to our range a slightly larger alternator to cope with the extra current requirements.

Small Denso 2-wire alternator 3.2kg 60amp, can be used for the 2.0L, 1.6L & 1.4L Vauxhall engines & 2.0L Duratec engine. Electrical connector included. Pulley is available separately, see below.
