Easimap
5 mapping software |
|
This
software is suitable for the older serial based ECUs, if you have a newer
CAN based ECU you will need Easimap 6. |
We
would recommend that you only use a laptop/computer with a serial port
which is fitted as standard when using our mapping leads or professional
mapping kits, since you are likely to experience problems when using a
USB to serial convertor. The main reason for this is that serial port
technology is now very old & not supported by computer manufacturers,
in addition every Window update appears to make the computers less compatible
with such adaptors.
If you
do have connection problems of this type, we would recommend you contact
a computer expert for assistance as we cannot offer support for this
issue because of the large variety of computer set-ups & operating
systems that are available.
Unfortunately
we had to stop producing the MBE967 a couple of years ago, although
it was a very nice ECU, the components that were used to build it were
becoming harder to find. Also serial technology has become obsolete
as far as computer manufacturers were concerned quite sometime before
this so now all our current ECUs use USB to CAN technology. We have
one engineer at MBE whose main task is to try to keep up with the updates
that Windows carry out on virtually a daily basis to make sure our current
technology remains exactly that. Therefore it is impossible to make
discontinued ECUs compatible with Window7/USB combination. |
You
can download & install the Easimap 5 software free of charge. When
you connect to your ECU via the appropriate hardware (see below), once
you have powered the ECU up, Easimap will then identify the ECU &
software version you have & automatically select matching files. Before
progressing any further, we advise you to read the comprehensive help
file within Easimap. We recommend you make a copy of all the data within
your ECU, before attempting any modifications. |
|
Easimap
5 requires Windows 98, 2000, XP or Vista to run. |
|
Serial
type: MBE941 & 967 software version 460 onwards & MBE970 ECUs |
|
IMPORTANT
NOTE: |
All
serial type ECUs must only be linked to your computer using either a SBD
mapping lead or a lead manufactured exactly to the details shown below. |
DO NOT USE A STANDARD SERIAL LEAD AS THIS COULD CORRUPT YOUR MAPS/PROGRAM,
DAMAGE THE ECU OR EVEN THE LAPTOP. |
|
|
The
Baud rate on Easimap 5 automatically varies according to what it is able
to communicate at. If you are having a real problem with your USB to serial
convertor, it is possible within the software to slow the Baud rate right
down manually, however the problem may be that your USB to serial convertor
is not compatible with your computer. We normally use a Targus or Belkin
for our Dell computers, but this doesn't mean to say that either of these
will be suitable for yours. It appears to be that each computer seems
to be fussy & you will need to find a converter that suits your own
brand. |
